Troubleshooting the Fit of a Nursing Bra -

Having an ill-fitting bra can be a nightmare! But how does a new mom know what size nursing bra to buy (especially when her breasts change size almost hourly!)? I’m currently on my 3rd size of nursing bra, now at almost 20 months postpartum, and I’m still not back to my pre-pregnancy bra size. It’s really incredible what your body can do to nourish your baby, but it’s not incredible how difficult it is to shop for a bra!

I finally found a shop that gets it though. Sarah, at Evymama, helped me shop online for a new nursing bra and it is a dream! I’m currently wearing the June & Dane bamboo nursing bra in black. It is so comfortable, flattering and functional!

June & Dane is the house brand at Evymama – an amazing “hub” for nursing mamas in the Toronto area and beyond! Sarah founded Evymama in 2007, after dreaming it up while she was expecting her second child. Her goal was to bring beautiful breastfeeding lingerie and nursing-wear to the mothers of Toronto, who had, for the most part, never heard of nursing clothes. She also found that many of her clientele had never had a bra fitting and were wearing ill-fitting bras.

Evymama has always been a soft place for a new mother to land, with a lovely nursing lounge, change table, and welcoming and relaxed environment. The store’s specialty is no-appointment-necessary, stress-free, come-as-you-are nursing bra fittings, so a mother can conveniently get what she needs to care for herself as she breastfeeds.”

Evymama has since expanded to offer parenting, hypnobirthing, prenatal yoga, mom and baby yoga, pelvic floor and core rehab and baby sign language classes! Hence my use of the word “hub”! I mean, you can stop to nurse and change your baby, shop around for some new clothes, AND take a yoga class all in the same place!

If you aren’t in the Toronto area and therefore cannot pop in for a proper bra-fitting, or take advantage of any of their classes, you can still access their wide selection of beautiful and functional nursing and maternity clothing online, and use their online bra sizing guide. Sarah and her team are happy to help with any questions and concerns you might have, as well.

These are some great tips! I had terrible nursing bras with my first, but I finally found some I really liked with my second.

Thank you for this post! I am currently pregnant with my first child (Due Nov. 5th). I had no idea how to choose a nursing bra. The guide is super helpful. I was concerned with not knowing how things will change when the baby comes, and my milk comes in.

This is so awesome! I need to check them out. After nursing for 4 years and another 1.5 years being pregnant (combined in with breastfeeding) I’ve changed sizes so many times! And my first nursing bra fit for a year and after that i haven’t had one that fits….they have all caused clogged ducts and mastitis. ugh! I’m going to go check them out! Right now I only wear night time ones to prevent clogged ducts!

My current nursing bras don’t fit very well. I change sizes periodically, but haven’t been bra shopping in a while.
