Welcome to Huckleberry the Trail Baby’s 2nd Birthday Celebrations!
A Gift Guide (& Giveaway) for Adventurous Toddlers
Huckleberry the Trail Baby is turning 2. Can we just take a moment to let that sink in? It is probably high time that we graduate him from Trail Baby to Trail Kid, perhaps that will be a post in the very near future. I’ve been a Maman for 2 years now! I’ve been raising a wild child for 731 days! Such a strange and beautiful thing to welcome a tiny human into the world and then watch them grow. The days are long but the years are short!
Alright, enough of the mushy gushy motherhood stuff, let’s talk about adventurous toddlers! Huckleberry LOVES to hike, paddle, camp, explore, play, and delight in the great outdoors. He enjoys dancing across bridges, hitting trail markers with big sticks, taking pictures of mushrooms, “helping” to pitch the tent, actually helping to collect firewood, calling loudly to all of the animals, finding the moon in the daytime, howling like a wolf and throwing rocks anywhere that we will allow it (a.k.a. not at cars or people). We simply adore all that is adventuring with a toddler. What does adventuring look like for your adventurous toddler?
And now he’s turning TWO! And we must celebrate, of course! But Huckleberry is the last person who needs or wants a birthday gift because let’s face it, he’s happy with a pile of pine cones and a leafy branch. However, birthdays are for celebrating and marking the end of one age and the beginning of a new adventure! And we want to feed his sense of adventure, his curiosity for the wild world, and his need to explore and we can do that with a few carefully chosen gifts that inspire.
For all of your big and small adventures with your adventurous toddlers, I present…
Huckleberry’s Gift Guide for Adventurous Toddlers

Unique, Outdoor-Inspired Everyday Wear from Sawyer
Sawyer – outfitting children of the wild.
As parents, aunts, uncles and friends shopping for the kids in our lives, the nostalgia for our outdoor-centred childhood sets in. Children are spending less time outdoors and the folks at Sawyer believe that a strong connection to nature is important. Valuable life skills are gained by learning to pick oneself up and try again. At Sawyer, kids are encouraged to grow through playing outside, exploring and aiming to succeed in activities. Their aim is to “outfit children of the wild” and be an educational resource that inspires a passion for the natural world. Sawyer offers unique, outdoor-inspired everyday wear that is durable, stylish, and comfortable.
Featured here in this guide are Sawyer‘s beanie and long sleeve tees. The beanie is wool with an acrylic liner so it’s warm (even when wet) and antimicrobial, but also soft and non-itchy. The long sleeve tees are soft on the skin, made of a cotton-polyester blend, printed in the U.S.A. and tagless for optimal comfort. Also, the limited edition “Artist Series” supports local artists!
A portion of all purchases between November 24th and December 15th will be donated to Sub 4 Santa, to help bring joy to underprivileged kids this Christmas season.
