Go Green Guide 2017 (+ Giveaway April 3-30)

Go Green Guide 2017 - mamanonthetrail.com

Welcome to Maman on the Trail’s Go Green Guide 2017!

April is Earth Month – a time to take stock of all of the eco-friendly things we are doing in our lives, and all of the ways that we can do more to protect our beautiful planet. More specifically, April 22nd is Earth Day – a day to celebrate green spaces, green projects, green people and green actions. There’s a great hashtag I’ve seen popping up that suggests “Every day is Earth Day” and I couldn’t agree more! I do, however, like a good calendar reminder to reflect and set some goals for the next year. I’m a sucker for New Year’s Resolutions and Earth Day is sort of like New Year’s for eco-nuts.

Last year, I put together a fairly comprehensive list of 88 ways that we have “gone green” in our lives. From buying food in bulk and using cloth napkins to filing our taxes electronically and taking the stairs, we are a fairly eco-conscious family. There is always more that we can do, though, and I set myself some pretty lofty goals for Earth Day 2017. I am happy to report that, among other things, we have acquired some cloth snack bags and we use them every day, we wash our dishes with eco-friendly dish soap, I use family cloth at home, and we are taking big steps in working towards a minimalist lifestyle – not too shabby!

And now I turn to you, fellow Humans of the Outdoors, fellow residents of Planet Earth, and I ask: How green are you?

Take a moment. Reflect. What do you do daily, weekly, monthly, even yearly, to take care of our planet? How do you reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse, and replace? If you see some room for improvement, then read on, because I have over a dozen amazing eco-friendly products, brands and retailers to tell you about. If you purchase even one of the products listed in this Go Green Guide, then you are taking a huge step towards a more eco-conscious way of life, and I commend you for that!

To help each and every one of you find some easy ways to “go green”, here is a guide to some amazing eco-friendly products for your whole family, your home and your outdoor adventures.  Here is…

Maman on the Trail’s Go Green Guide 2017

Each of these products has been approved for use on and off the trail. So green up your life one room at a time and then onto the trail! Read on for product details, discounts, and a sweet giveaway.

I have not been comfortable using plastic wrap or bags for my food as I have gotten rid of all other plastics in my kitchen. This product would be a brilliant plastic wrap alternative.

I am really interested in the reusable snack bags. It’s hard not to always reach for the plastic ones when packing snacks into the diaper bag!

I think the Abeego products are really neat! I like that you can use the products in a variety of ways and keep reusing them.

I’ve been wanting to try Abeego for a long time now but never have the funds! And their new look with the little images on the wrapping foils are so beautiful. Thank you so much for this awesome prize package, fingers crossed!

I’m most excited to add Abeego food wraps to our green options! We use glass containers, and reusable sandwich bags already, but this wrap would fill the gap for foods that I still reach for foil/plastic wrap or plastic baggies!

Some of these products I already use. I particularly love the beeswax wraps and the dryer balls! Awesome guide for anyone hoping to tread a little lighter on the earth.

I have two that have joint 1 st place, one is the gogoBags Fresh Bags being on my own I often have to throw out food, the packaging often being too much for me to eat before it goes bad. The other is the Wool Dryer Balls, I think they are a great idea and help save on electricity which is always a great idea.

We already use Marley’s Monsters products and LOVE them! I’m interested in trying S’well because we haven’t found our favorite reusable water bottle yet.

I like the cloth wipes from Marleys Monsters because I would like to try not using toilet paper for myself. There are already many places in my home where we have gone green and I see this as a next step. I already use cloth diapers so I don’t see it being that difficult to start doing, just need some nice wipes for me!

I am most interested in the wool dryer balls. My family likes softener which I myself don’t use because of waste. My son recently quit using softener because the new baby was getting a rash from their clothing even though they never used it in his clothes. My daughter uses it but only certain ones because she will get a rash. I would like to give them both a natural alternative and might even start using them myself.

I’ve been using wax paper for a while now because I don’t like to use a lot of plastic for food wrapping, so I’d love to try using the Beeswax Wrap.
