One of my favourite forms of “research”, when it comes to getting outside, is reading other people’s stories. I like gear reviews, I enjoy how-to posts, I pour over lists of dos and don’ts, but what I’m really after is that personal connection. I want to know that someone else out there, someone like me, went on a similar trip and had a great time, or bought this particular item and loved it. I want to know that other people take their dog on as many adventures as we do, and I want to know how they do it. I want to know that another new mom and dad are trying to maintain an outdoor lifestyle with a new baby in tow, and that it’s not as hard as it looks. Really, I just want to know that I’m not alone.
Speaking of not being alone, I can’t possibly be the only one craving these stories, these connections, right?! Based on the success of such a movement as Humans of New York, I would say the need is universal. And, in an ode to such an incredible movement, I’m proposing a series of posts about us, the humans of the outdoors.
Share your story. Be part of a bigger narrative.
I would love to read about your adventures, everyday or extraordinary! And I would love to share your stories with the world, or at least with my growing community of followers and fellow humans of the outdoors. So, if you spend any time outdoors and want to tell me about it, please fill out the form below and you’ll be featured in a future blog post. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been hiking for years or started cross-country skiing this past winter, I want to hear your story. It doesn’t matter if you have dogs or kids or friends or no one that you get outside with, I want to hear your story. It doesn’t matter if you live for the outdoors or simply like to spend some time there, I want to hear your story. We all have a story to share, and someone out there will feel a little less alone for it.
Please join me in weaving a collective narrative by and for the humans of the outdoors.

Sometime after completing the form, you will receive an email from me with a few follow-up questions based on your responses. I am so excited to read all about you and your outdoor adventures!
